Petrichor I & Petrichor II
Hyattsville, Maryland — 2025
Commissioned by ISG, Inc.

Created for a shared gathering space within a condominium residence, Petrichor I and Petrichor II respond to the site’s proximity to water and the atmospheric shift that precedes a coastal storm. The works introduce movement and tonal transition within two opposing alcoves defined by curved banquette seating.

Each composition carries a gradient that moves from the mustard of the upholstery into layered greens drawn from the surrounding walls. Though the two alcoves differ in tone, the pieces maintain a visual dialogue across the room while responding individually to their architectural backdrop.

The compositions were structured with flexibility as final millwork details evolved prior to installation. When the curvature of the built-in seating shifted, the modular elements allowed for on-site refinement in coordination with the interior design team.
